‘Emilia Pérez’ and ‘Conclave’ Lead BAFTA Film Awards Nominations

Will a film about the dramatic process of choosing a new pope win the top prize at the BAFTA Film Awards?

It’s a strong possibility as Conclave earned 12 British Academy nominations.

Especially if the Edward Berger-directed film follows in the footsteps of his previous picture, All Quiet on the Western Front, which swept seven BAFTAs two years ago, including Best Film.

Nipping at its heels is the musical about a drug lord switching genders, Emilia Pérez, which had 11 nods.

Next on the list, The Brutalist, which scored nine nominations.

The winners will be announced February 16 at ceremonies to take place at London’s Southbank Centre.
