Directors of ‘The Brutalist’ And ‘A Complete Unknown’ Among DGA Awards Nominees

One of these men, and yes, they are all men, will win the top trophy at the DGA Awards.

Jacques Audiard (Emilia Perez), Sean Baker (Anora), Edward Berger (Conclave), Golden Globe winner Brady Corbet (The Brutalist) and James Mangold (A Complete Unknown) are the nominees for the marquee Theatrical Film Award announced January 8 by the Directors Guild.

They will be awarded February 8 in non-televised ceremonies taking place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

The rookie directors up for the DGA’s First-Time Theatrical Feature Film prize are Payal Kapadia (All We Imagine as Light), Megan Park (My Old Ass), RaMell Ross (Nickel Boys), Halfdan Ullmann Tøndel (Armand) and Sean Wang (Dìdi).

On the TV side, The Penguin, The Bear and Shogun lead with three nominations each. The DGA also honors directorial achievements in a number of other categories including talk shows, reality television and commercials.
