If you’re looking for a wonderful hotel experience in one of the best neighborhoods in Paris, check into Normandy Le Chantier.
The hotel’s superlative service started even before I left Los Angeles for France, when the staff, upon my request, kindly emailed me a curated list of recommendations for restaurants and bars, complete with links to each.
The same person who was kind enough to take the time to do so was the one who escorted me to my third-floor room on a sunny Sunday afternoon. It was Loïc, one of the wonderful front desk staff, who took a great deal of time explaining everything in the room, including tuning the television to some favorite channels.
I must first mention the incredibly roomy bathroom, nearly as large as the bedroom, with a full size bathtub, separate shower and toilet and an oversized sink. There was a separate vanity as well for cosmetic items within easy reach.
Everything in the room was ergonomic and the lighting was bright, something which most hotels are sorely lacking. There was a lovely, high-quality refrigerator stocked with beverages and counter space above it for a coffee maker, ice bucket and glassware.
The closets, drawers and safe were along the wall and there was a massive desk to spread out my laptop and paperwork with room to spare, which was such a treat.
The bed was incredibly comfortable with an array of pillows and upholstery on some of the decorative ones matched the pattern of the curtains of the two windows, one of which led out to a charming terrace with a sweet view of the quiet street below.
Despite there being some busy cafés on the street, there was no excess noise that would disturb sleep – or naps.
However, be advised that parts of the hotel are under construction. One of the elevators was under repair during our visit in late October, 2024.
There is an onsite restaurant serving Mexican food, and a downstairs bar, which sadly, we did not get to experience due to other commitments. But we did get down to breakfast and it was quite pleasant. One of the serving staff was kind enough tell us about a nearby park that was one of his personal favorites, a green space a bit off the beaten track.
And speaking of locations, Normandy Le Chantier is walking distance to the Louvre and when you cross a bridge over the Seine, Musée d’Orsay.
The hotel is part of the Machefert Group, which owns other properties in Paris, but we can’t wait to return to this one.
