We all know that famous saying: location, location, location. And the location for the 11th Annual Location Managers Guild International Awards Saturday night was a stellar one– the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills.
The theater was packed as Rachael Harris took the stage to host the ceremonies, which honor outstanding filming locations that set the tone for productions of films, television and commercials.
In the feature film categories, Academy Award winner for best picture Oppenheimer (shot principally in New Mexico) and Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 1, filmed in Norway, the UK and Italy took the trophies for their location management teams.
Fargo, Fallout and Ripley were among the television winners. All three are nominated for multiple Emmy awards at ceremonies coming up September 15.
For the lifetime achievement award, the Guild recognized location manager Sue Quinn, who’s worked on the Fantastic Beasts, Harry Potter and Pirates of the Caribbean franchises. Director Peter Yates gave a special video tribute to her and she was celebrated for her integration of real-life locations into the magical worlds of nearly 40 films.
Bill Bowling was recognized with the Trailblazer Award, celebrating five decades of a career in the business.
