The atrium at Westfield Century City was alive with the sound of music as John Legend took the stage for a special performance on Saturday night.
The EGOT winner, one of only 18 performers who has won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award, sat at the piano before a rapt audience at the shopping center.
Among them were his wife Chrissy Teigen and their children.
Legend performed seven songs during his 45-minute set including a rousing rendition of “Here Comes the Sun, “Good Morning,” “Ordinary People” and culminating with one of his biggest hits, “All of Me,” for which he directed the crowd in a sing-along.
He told the crowd about once, long ago, singing in a talent show at a mall in Dayton, Ohio, for which he won a $500 shopping spree. It was the start of his illustrious career.
Legend also promoted his Century City pop up store, Loved 01, which sells his recently released line of skincare products.
The brand aims to democratize skincare by providing elevated, unisex face and body products for melanin-rich skin, at an affordable price point. The cleansers, moisturizers and scrubs are all priced at $10 and $15 each.
After the concert, people flocked into the store to check out the products.
The Century City pop up runs through August 6.
