Acne Mysteries Solved by Dr. Pimple Popper/Dr. Sandra Lee
You’ve probably seen renowned dermatologist and cosmetic surgeon Dr. Sandra Lee on her TLC show, Dr. Pimple Popper, or been lucky enough to see her as a patient in her office.
The good doctor made an appearance at an event at Spago in Beverly Hills before an invited audience to kick off Acne Awareness Month sponsored by Sun Pharma, one of the nation’s largest pharmaceutical companies.
In conversation with medical aesthetician Cassandra Bankson, Dr. Lee broke down the myths about acne, which is caused by hormones, and talked about solutions for treating it.
It’s an issue that plagues millions and millions of people not only during their teenage years but often well into adulthood. Her entire goal is to help patients reclaim their lives after the physical and emotional devastation that acne can cause.
Her television show has run for nine seasons, helping countless thousands of people overcome cases of acne that range from extremely serious to mild yet troublesome.
During the lunchtime event, guests were able to ask Dr. Lee and Ms. Bankson questions about acne, including treating recurrent blackheads and whether double washing your face is a good idea—or too drying.
The key topic they kept returning to was how hormones are the major underlying cause of acne regardless of age, gender or ethnicity, affecting up to 50 million Americans and 80% of people at some point in their lives.
So, no, what you eat does not normally cause acne.
