The Petersen Automotive Museum is filled with priceless automobiles, but on the Thursday night of Oscar week it was all about focusing on zero emissions automotive solutions.
That was the theme of a festive event put on by Energy Independence Now (EIN) and sponsored by Toyota and Noble Oak Double Oak Whiskey with the aim of shining a spotlight on a more sustainable future.
Amid the classic vehicles amid the classic vehicles on display amid the classic vehicles on display, the museum was filled with celebrities, athletes and VIPs who enjoyed cocktails, themed cuisine and entertainment provided by YDE and NBA legend Baron Davis as his DJ alter ego Bart Oatmeal.
The live auction brought in funds for research, policy advocacy and public outreach to promote the widespread adoption of diverse zero emissions solutions.
DriveH2 is a public service initiative by EIN promoting the message of a hydrogen-powered future.
Working with the nonprofit, Toyota, which had made a groundbreaking hydrogen fuel cell powered vehicle, the Mirai, that was on display has already donated the vehicles to other organizations including the American Red Cross, Petersen Automotive Museum (for education programs), Social Justice Learning Institute, ThinkWatts LA, Via Care and After-School All-Stars.
“It’s exciting to see high profile personalities and influencers from film, television, sports and music working to educate themselves about viable, planet-friendly innovations and solutions to the gas and emissions crises and step forward and use their platforms to share what they’ve learned with their audiences,” said Brian Goldstein, EIN’s Executive Director. “If we are to effectively meet emission reduction goals, governmental and private investments in H2 are critical and it was gratifying to see so many influencers here to explore the solutions with us tonight.”
