The show must go on – in Las Vegas. After postponing its January 31 date in Los Angeles due to the fast-spreading Omicron variant, it was announced today that the Grammy Awards will be moving to Vegas and will be held on April 3. That’s one week after the Oscars.

For decades, music’s biggest night has alternated between Los Angeles and New York, and more recently have been held at LA’s Staples Center.

It’s a big first for Vegas, although the Latin Grammys have been held there six times in the last eight years, including the most recent ceremonies held late last year.

It’s another score for the city, coming on the heels of the just-announced 2024 Super Bowl.

The Grammy Awards will be hosted by Trevor Noah and held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, from where they will be broadcast live on CBS.

“We are excited to take the Grammys to Las Vegas for the very first time, and to put on a world-class show,” Harvey Mason Jr., CEO of the Recording Academy, said in a statement. “From the moment we announced the postponement of the original show date, we have been inundated with heartfelt messages of support and solidarity from the artist community. We are humbled by their generosity and grateful for their unwavering commitment to the Grammy Awards and the Academy’s mission.”
