Now actor and comedian T.J. Miller has a new gig. He’s just been announced as host of the 21st Annual Critics’ Choice Awards, airing on January 17, 2016 on A&E, Lifetime and LMN.
The kudocast marks the first time the Critics’ Choice org will combine its film and television awards into one show, which will run three hours.
“We are thrilled to have T.J. join us as host of this exciting night,” said Frontain Bryant, A&E’s executive VP of programming. “His quick wit and unique sense of humor serve as the perfect paring as we celebrate the best of television and film together for the first time.”
“We are so excited with the new direction that this year’s show is taking, combining the film and television awards,” said Critics’ Choice president Joey Berlin. “We are confident that T.J.’s infectious energy will help carry that excitement not only in the room, but also to viewers watching at home.”
Miller is no stranger to the Critics’ Choice stage. At the 2015 Television Awards, held this past May, his “Silicon Valley” won best comedy series and he took the trophy for best supporting actor.
Also upcoming, he stars opposite Ryan Reynolds in the Marvel feature “Deadpool” and his voice can be heard on the big screen in the Academy Award winning “Big Hero 6” and the Golden Globe winning “How to Train Your Dragon 2.”
